Orcelia has a plan to get to the funfair - no matter what. But her plan only leads to disappointment.
One bad decision spirals into another, and before she knows it, she’s lost and alone, wondering if she’ll ever make it back… and if her family is still waiting for her. Thankfully she has a devoted big brother and a loving father, who will stop at nothing to get her back.

This original picture-book story was inspired by the thought: “What if the older brother of the prodigal son was not selfish, but actually like Jesus?”
I’ve set it in a township in South Africa, with a headstrong but likeable main character, whose “good ideas” prove unable to save her. Yes, I know that’s taboo these days - a main character who needs to be rescued? But I’m sticking with it because I care more about children than about trends.
