Grown-Up Party Full Kit & Caboodle

The Basic Info:

  • This is an alternative for those extra-important celebrations, allowing for more special moments to be immortalised as illustrations.

  • Instead of drawing portraits first-come-first-served, this package allows you to choose who and what I illustrate:
    - You will provide me with a list of certain people and moments that you would especially like to have me illustrate,
    - I will be there for the entire event so that I can capture those special moments and people on paper,
    - I will create a mixture of A4, A5, and A6 illustrations,
    - I may have to take a few photos as drawing references, since people tend to move around a lot, but these will be deleted after the event,
    - By the end of the event, you will receive a beautifully presented set of illustrations of all the people and moments that were most important to you.

  • I draw with brush pens and watercolour pastels, mixing colours on the page, and adding details with pencil crayons to create fun illustrations with a naïve quality.

  • Each image is drawn on good quality artist’s paper. I package them in a protective sleeve with branded backing card to keep it safe.

  • With this party package, I also provide digital files of all the illustrations, allowing you to make copies, and print them up to A3 size! (I retain my copyright, so this is only for personal use, not for commercial gain.) You will receive the digital images within 40 days after the event.

Here’s an example from a wedding:

I was given a list of special moments and people, which included the bride and groom during the vows, the exterior of the church building, and portraits of the bridal party, plus a few special friends and family members.

I provided:
A large (A4) group portrait of the bride and groom with their parents,
A large (A4) illustration of the bride and groom saying their vows,
A medium (A5) landscape illustration of the church building,
A medium (A5) portrait of the bride with her grandparents,
Four small (A6) portraits:
- the groom with his best man and brother,
- the bride’s cousin’s family,
- the two musicians playing during the ceremony,
- and two friends from overseas.

Now for all the details:

In the case of this Full Kit & Caboodle, I do not charge by the hour, but rather by the amount, size and complexity of the illustrations. We’ll be able to discuss all the options in depth so that I can cater to your exact needs and budget. Once you’ve made your choice, I’ll provide a final quote, which will contain a detailed breakdown of costs. This will be the final price as I won’t be doing anything more on the day than we decided beforehand.

This package requires a bit of planning ahead of time because I will be drawing more complex images and therefore won’t be able to draw every guest. But all this entails is that you provide me with a list of moments and people you would most like to have an illustration of.
As you can see in the example of the wedding above, the bride and groom especially wanted a drawing of their church building, the two of them saying their vows, and certain family and friends who came from far away to attend the wedding. Along with a list of names, it was incredibly helpful that they provided a few photos of each person, so that I could recognise them and even practice drawing them before the wedding.

You will have me booked for 4 - 8 hours depending on the type of event, and I will arrive about 1 hour before the party starts in order to do some recon: sketching out backgrounds and planning compositions as much as possible before it gets busy.
In the case of the building in the example above, because I arrived early I was able to get that illustration finished before the ceremony began. (It helped that there was good weather! But if it had been raining, I would have taken a few photos and worked on it while sitting indoors.)
