Children’s Packages: Illustrations or Live Portraits
Live Portraits at Children’s Parties:
For some unique entertainment that provides great keepsakes, hire a live portrait illustrator for your children’s parties.
I draw with brush pens and coloured pencils to create fun, colourful portraits in my own illustrative style.
Prices start at £100 per hour, with a minimum hiring time of 2 hours.
During that time, I'll create as many portraits as I can. I draw fast and from life - I do not take any photos of children.
Portraits take approx. 5 minutes per child. I’m happy to draw sibling and group portraits as well as individuals.
I provide extra supplies so that children can get creative at the table while I draw their portraits.
I can draw approximately 10 portraits per hour. Therefore, if it's a large party, I may not be able to draw every child.
Children's portraits are on A6 or A5 sized paper. I package each in a protective sleeve and keep them safe until the party's over. Children can then take their portraits home.
I provide my info with their portrait so that parents also have the option to order a digital copy of the illustration. This allows them to print it up to A4 size (though not for commercial gain, of course).
Children’s Party Illustrations:
Got a theme for your child’s party? I’ll bring it to life through illustration.
This is a great way to take some of the stress off your shoulders, as I can create personalised stationary, stickers, and even decorations, all in a cohesive style and sticking with the theme.
I’ll draw a range of on-theme illustrations that I will use to design all the elements you would like:
invitations, physical and/or digital,
a large illustration of the child or children whose party it is,
stickers to use on invitations and party bags,
sticker packs as party favours,
paper or fabric bunting,
stand-up table decorations,
paper or fabric table covering,
large illustrated cardboard cut-out.
Please note that I will not be able to illustrate in someone else’s style due to copyright. Therefore, if the theme is an animated movie or comic book for example, I will draw the characters in my own style.

Now for all the details:
Live Portrait Illustration:
I will set up my table and three chairs (or you can provide these) wherever you like me to. If the event is outdoors, I will need to be undercover because sunburn hurts, and no-one wants rain-spattered portraits. I can also bring my own gazebo as long as the event is somewhere I can drive to.
If the event is further than I can drive, I will need a table, chairs and cover to be provided. The table should be at least 100 x 40cm, and I’ll bring a table cloth to protect it from the inevitable crayon marks. My chair will need to be the right height for me to be able to draw at the table without hunching over or reaching up. The other two chairs should be suitable for children to sit on so that I can see them, and they won’t topple over!
Children will sit opposite me at the table, and I will provide paper and crayons so that they can also create artwork while I draw their portraits.
Portraits will be very quick: approximately 5 minutes per child. I will also happily draw siblings on one page, if that’s preferred. The pictures will be on A6 art-grade paper and I will package them in a protective sleeve and keep them all safe throughout the party to be collected at the end and handed out before the children leave. If there’s a suitable and safe place, I bring little pegs and string so we can display the portraits during the party.
I can draw approximately 10 children per hour, so if there are more than 20 children attending and the party is shorter than 2 hours, I won’t be able to draw everyone.
Bear in mind that children won’t think “oh, I must make sure I get my portrait done before the party is over.” Therefore it is advisable to have someone responsible for making sure that all children who want it get their portrait done, or to make sure their parents are taking care of this.
At the end of the party, each child will get their portrait in a protective sleeve which will also contain a backing-card with my logo and details on it.
The drawings may be shared on social media crediting me, but may not be used for commercial gain. There are details on the backing card that describe how parents can optionally order a digital version of the illustration. This digital version will be nicely cleaned up and come as a high resolution PNG file, so it can be printed on anything, up to A4 size. They would then have the option to use the illustration as an avatar, card or wall art.
This is only for personal use, not for commercial gain. I, Robyn Hepburn, retain all copyright to my illustrations. (This just means they can’t be used for anything else without my permission.)
Price-wise, my minimum charge is £200 (£100 per hour with a 2 hour minimum, and no need to travel far), but if your budget is smaller, do get in touch and we can discuss some other options.
If there's anything else you'd like to know, do not hesitate to contact me.
Children’s Party Illustrations:
Once you or your child has chosen a theme for the party, get in touch and let me know. It will take me 2 to 3 weeks to illustrate all the necessary designs, then another 2 to 3 weeks to get everything printed and sourced from suppliers if necessary. I will get the invitations to you first, so that you can send them out as soon as possible.
Let me know exactly which party elements you would like: digital or physical invitations, illustrations of the child or children, stickers, cut-outs, decorations etc. I’m happy to hear your ideas on any other things you would like that aren’t on this list.
I will send you sketches of the designs and elements early on, so that you can make sure you and your children are happy with them beforehand.
As soon as everything’s ready I will send it all off with ample time to get to you before you have to start setting up!
So all you’ll have left to organise is the food, and the cake, and the games, and the face-painter… May I recommend a live portrait illustrator instead? ;)
