Drawing Play-Dates and The Scribble Club

These are FREE live video calls where we draw playfully together - no judgmental voices, just silly messiness while maybe learning something valuable in the process. “Bad draw-ers” are welcome and encouraged to leave their inner-critic elsewhere (perhaps locked in a drawer).

Come along with me as we colour outside the lines, try new things, make mistakes, learn big and small lessons, and have a lovely time. Watch me create my illustrations, draw along in real time, chat to me and ask questions.

These calls are recorded, so feel free to leave your camera and mic off, or wear a disguise. Recorded Play-Dates are only available to The Scribble Club.

Well then, what’s The Scribble Club?

It’s like Drawing Play-Dates but even better:

The Scribble Club is a paid subscription membership for those who enjoy my newsletters and Drawing Play-Dates so much that they would like to join the inner circle of Scribble-ness and get more insight and guidance in drawing and illustration.

Membership cost £4 a month (or discounted to £40 if you pay annually) and is a very friendly way to support my illustration career. While I work on picture books and draw portraits and develop as an illustrator, this is a fun way for us to share the journey.

How membership works:

The Scribble Club is run through Substack, which is an online platform that emails my posts directly to each Scribble Club member. So as soon as I post a newsletter or behind-the-scenes video for example, it arrives in your inbox and is simultaneously published to my Substack home page, where you can access it any time.

You don’t need a Substack account to subscribe, because you’ll receive all the posts, videos, and live call information straight into your inbox.*

I send out new content for The Club two to three times a month. This includes rants (eg: There are no Art Rules!), videos (eg: Analysing a picture-book), honest behind-the-scenes stuff (eg: A Peek into a Portrait Commission), and other random things (eg: My Big Alternative-to-drawing-prompts List). As soon as you become a paid member - even if it’s only for a month - you get access to the whole archive of exclusive Scribble Club posts and videos. This is currently quite a small archive because The Scribble Club was only founded in November 2024 (it’s still a baby!), but it is growing fast, and will soon include recordings of our monthly Drawing Play-Dates, so you can catch up if you miss them.
As well as posts, videos, and Drawing Play-Dates, there will be other live online calls where I pass on things I’ve learnt and mistakes I’ve learned from.
