My first newsletter: July 2023

I was surprised to see that it’s been a year since my first newsletter went out to my two subscribers. One year later, and mostly thanks to Substack, I have over one hundred subscribers. However, I think there are still only two who actually read it. If you are one of those two people, I’d like you to know that I really appreciate you, and I hope you enjoy the ramblings I send to you each month.

So here is that first newsletter, destined to be the shortest one I’ve ever written.

(4th of July 2023)

Hello!

Welcome to the cozy place that is my newsletter: a place to chat, think about arty things, and drink something refreshing (optional). I'm ecstatic that you've signed up!

A few examples of what you can expect from these monthly e-mails:

  • things I've learnt about art and illustration,

  • how to's for drawing and illustrating,

  • weird stories, rants, and rambles from my own, original brain,

  • great recommendations for children's books and activities,

  • and all sorts of stuff that's relevant to non-artists as well as arty-folk.

Warning: if you do not like rants and rambles and slightly surreal stories, you should probably run away now (or just unsubscribe). However, if you like newsletters that are short,* sweet, and colourful, then stick around.

Please note that you can send a reply to this email and it will be read by me, personally. I will even reply as soon as I can, because I would love for us to become friends (if we're not already)! 😁

In my next e-mail you'll be able to get to know me a little better. I'll tell you about where I come from, how I got into illustrating, and other fun facts that even Instagram doesn't know about.

*Despite my good intentions, they were never short. But my hope is that, now that I’ve set up this blog, I can stick all the long, information-rich stuff here, and send shorter newsletters. Time will tell.
